Understanding Bloating
A sensation of fullness or tightness in the abdomen, often caused by excess gas, digestive contents, or visceral hypersensitivity. It may or may not involve visible distension.
Bloating can feel like uncomfortable fullness or pressure in the abdomen. Common causes include gas buildup, food intolerances, or gut sensitivity. Though usually not dangerous, bloating can be disruptive. Acupressure can help ease abdominal tension, stimulate digestion, and promote smoother energy flow in the digestive tract.

Bloating Relief Routine (After meals or as needed, 5-10 minutes)
Treatment Protocol
- Sit comfortably with loose clothing around your waist and breathe deeply into your belly
- Gently massage CV-12 (upper abdomen, midway between ribcage and navel) in clockwise circles for 1-2 minutes
- Apply steady pressure to ST-36 (4 finger-widths below kneecap) for 1 minute each leg to improve digestion
- Press SP-15 (side of abdomen, level with navel) gently for 30 seconds each side to promote intestinal movement
- For gas and discomfort: add LI-4 (thumb-index web) and ST-25 (2 finger-widths beside navel)
- If nauseous: include PC-6 (inner wrist, 2 finger-widths from crease) for 1 minute each arm
- Finish with gentle clockwise abdominal massage for 2-3 minutes
Supporting Your Recovery
Lifestyle
- Mindful Eating: Chew slowly and avoid talking while eating to reduce swallowed air
- Food Sensitivity Awareness: Track reactions to dairy, gluten, or legumes that may cause bloating
Important
- Hydration: Drink water between meals to support digestion
- Seek Evaluation: Persistent bloating may signal IBS, SIBO, or food intolerance
