BL-21 - Stomach Shu
胃俞 - Wèi shū
Point Region: Back
BL-21 Weishu, the Back-Shu point of the Stomach, is a master point for all matters of digestion. In Chinese medicine, the Stomach is a central hub, responsible for receiving and 'rotting and ripening' the food and drink we consume. This point acts as a direct line to the Stomach, helping to harmonize the 'middle burner' and settle any rebellious energy.
Think of Weishu as the great peacemaker for your gut. It's particularly effective for relieving indigestion, bloating, nausea, and acid reflux. When the Stomach's energy flows in the wrong direction—what's known as rebellious Qi—it can cause burping, hiccups, and even emotional irritability. This point helps to gently guide that energy back down, restoring a sense of calm and comfort.
By regulating the Stomach, BL-21 ensures that our body can properly absorb nutrients and energy from our food, providing the foundation for all other bodily functions. It's a point that reminds us that a healthy life starts with a healthy relationship to what we consume.
