Understanding Allergies
An immune system overreaction to substances like pollen, food, or dust, triggering inflammation and discomfort.
Allergies occur when the immune system mistakenly treats harmless substances such as pollen, pet dander, or certain foods as dangerous. This reaction triggers the release of chemicals like histamines, which cause sneezing, itching, swelling, and congestion. While allergies can range from mild to severe, acupressure and relaxation techniques may help reduce inflammation, open nasal passages, and ease discomfort alongside medical management.

Acute Allergy Relief (5 minutes)
Treatment Protocol
- Sit comfortably and take slow, deep breaths
- Press and hold LI-20 (beside nostrils) on both sides for 30 seconds to clear nasal passages
- Massage LU-7 (wrist, thumb side) in circular motions for 1 minute to support breathing
- Apply firm pressure to ST-36 (below kneecap) for 30 seconds each leg to boost immune response
- If you have redness or itching: add LI-4 (web between thumb/index finger) and LI-11 (elbow crease)
Supporting Your Recovery
Seasonal & Lifestyle
- Spring/Summer Focus: Increase acupressure practice during high pollen seasons
- Stress Management: Stress can worsen allergic reactions — incorporate relaxation techniques
Important
- Clean Hands: Always wash hands before touching face or eyes
- Medication Interactions: Acupressure can complement but not replace necessary allergy medications
