Location & How to Find

Anatomical Location: On the back of the hand, in the webs between the thumb and index finger and between the index and middle fingers.

Extra points have no international location standard, and Chinese texts number and place some of them differently. This location follows common teaching.

How to Locate:

  1. Look at the back of your hand
  2. Find the web between your thumb and index finger, and the web between your index and middle fingers
  3. Each point is at the centre of the web on the back of the hand

How to Apply Pressure

Press lightly on the back of the hand just behind the edge of each web, one at a time, and stop if it hurts. Skip a web where the skin is broken or infected, and do not use these points over a hand injury or during a severe arthritis flare.

Select a point to see its location, how to find it, and its traditional uses.

Important Precautions

Avoid this point with:

  • Hand injury
  • Severe arthritis
  • Infection between fingers

Take care:

  • Be gentle with arthritic hands
  • Avoid excessive pressure on inflamed areas
  • Stop if pain increases
