CV-9 - Water Divide
水分 - Shuǐ fēn
Point Region: Upper abdomen
CV-9 Shuifen, meaning 'Water Divide,' is a master point for regulating fluid metabolism and transforming dampness. Located above the navel, it is a pivotal point for the body's internal 'watershed,' helping to ensure that fluids are properly distributed and that excess dampness is cleared. Its name alludes to its ability to 'divide' the water, separating the pure from the turbid.
Think of Shuifen as a point that helps to drain the swamp, clearing out the excess water and dampness that can accumulate in the body. It's especially useful for addressing issues like edema, bloating, and a feeling of heaviness or fullness in the abdomen. By transforming dampness, it helps to restore a sense of lightness and clarity.
