BL-16 - Governor Shu
督俞 - Dū shū
Point Region: Back
BL-16 Dushu, meaning 'Governor Shu,' is a vital point that directly influences the spine and the governing vessel, which runs along the back and oversees all the body's Yang meridians. This point acts as a central command, regulating the spine and clearing the chest, promoting a sense of uprightness and central stability.
Think of Dushu as the anchor for your body's central axis. It is particularly effective for releasing tension in the upper spine and clearing feelings of stagnation in the chest. Its ability to influence the governing vessel makes it a powerful point for both physical and energetic regulation.
By supporting the spine and clearing the chest, BL-16 helps to alleviate back pain, improve posture, and release emotional tension that can constrict the heart and lungs. It's a point that reminds us to stand tall, both literally and figuratively, in the face of life's challenges.
