KI-10 - Yin Valley
阴谷 - Yīn gǔ
Point Region: Leg/Calf
KI-10, or 'Yingu' (meaning 'Yin Valley'), is the 'He-Sea' and 'Water' point of the Kidney channel. Located in the crease behind the knee, its name refers to its position in the 'valley' of the knee, where the 'Yin' energy of the Kidney meridian gathers and pools.
As a 'He-Sea' point, Yingu has a deep and powerful effect on the entire meridian and related organs. It is a go-to point for 'damp-heat' conditions, such as those that cause urinary tract infections or genital issues. It can also be used to 'tonify' the Kidney, helping to restore vitality and strength to the lower back and knees.
The name 'Yin Valley' speaks to its function as a deep and nourishing point that can help to restore the body's 'Yin' energy. By stimulating this point, you can help to calm the mind and nourish the body's deepest reserves of fluids and energy. This makes it an excellent point for anyone dealing with a sense of 'dryness' or 'emptiness' in the body and mind.
