Understanding Knee Pain
Discomfort in or around the knee joint due to injury, arthritis, overuse, or mechanical misalignment.
Knee pain may arise from injury, strain, arthritis, or chronic misalignment. It can affect mobility, stability, and overall quality of life. Alongside medical care and exercise, acupressure can help reduce inflammation, improve joint circulation, and provide temporary relief from stiffness and discomfort.

Knee Pain Relief (5-10 minutes per knee)
Treatment Protocol
- Sit with knee supported and leg relaxed (use pillow if needed)
- Gently massage ST-35 (hollow beside kneecap, on outer side) in circular motions
- Apply steady pressure to GB-34 (outer leg, in depression below and forward of kneecap) for 1 minute
- Press SP-9 (inner leg, below knee in soft depression) to reduce swelling and inflammation
- For back-of-knee pain: carefully massage BL-40 (center of knee crease when bent)
- For chronic knee issues: add Xiyan points (EXT-39, depressions on both sides of kneecap)
Supporting Your Recovery
Lifestyle
- Low-Impact Movement: Choose swimming or cycling to reduce joint strain
- Weight Management: Maintaining a healthy weight reduces pressure on knees
Important
- Joint Support: Use braces or compression sleeves during activity
- Seek Imaging: Persistent pain may require evaluation for ligament or cartilage damage
