LI-9 - Upper Ridge
上廉 - Shàng lián
Point Region: Forearm
LI-9, or 'Shanglian' (meaning 'Upper Angle'), is a local point on the forearm. Its name signifies its location at the 'upper angle,' higher up the arm from LI-8.
Like its counterpart, LI-9 is a crucial point for local disorders of the arm and shoulder. It is particularly effective for issues affecting the upper arm, and it is known for its ability to regulate the Large Intestine organ, promoting regular bowel movements and helping to relieve constipation. By activating this point, you can encourage the healthy flow of energy through the entire meridian, ensuring a smooth process of elimination.
This point, along with LI-8, helps to complete the energetic picture of the forearm, addressing a wide range of issues from muscular tension to digestive sluggishness. It's a reminder that the health of the entire Large Intestine system can be influenced from points along its external pathway.
