LI-5 - Yang Stream
阳溪 - Yáng xī
Point Region: Hand
LI-5, or 'Yangxi' (meaning 'Yang Stream'), is the 'Jing-River' and 'Fire' point of the Large Intestine channel. Located at the wrist, this point is at the 'stream' where the channel's energy begins to flow more rapidly and deeply.
As a 'Jing-River' point, Yangxi is primarily used for conditions affecting the tendons and bones. Its location at the wrist makes it a powerful point for treating local pain and swelling, such as in cases of carpal tunnel syndrome or arthritis. It is also an important point for clearing heat from the entire channel, including conditions like toothache, eye problems, and fevers.
Its 'Fire' element connection gives it a strong ability to clear heat and inflammation. The name 'Yang Stream' suggests a bright, powerful flow of energy that can invigorate the body and burn away stagnant energy and blockages, much like a rushing river. This makes it a great point for restoring flow and balance to the meridian.
